- Is essentially recycled waste water (Water can be recycled for use over and over again)
- Does not rely on rainfall
- Can be globally adapted to aid global water shortage
- Requires less energy to produce
- Safe drinking water
- Cheaper than desalinated water
- Reduces Singapore's dependance on imported water from other countries (eg. Malaysia)
- Will not be in threat from Malaysia for water issues (Malaysia used to use the water agreement to threaten Singapore)
Cons:
- Singaporeans may not be able to adapt to the fact that NEWater is made from recycled water
- Process is complicated
- Machines used is costly
- Minerals are removed during the process of the NEWater treatment
Why would NEWater be cheaper than desalinated water? Also, how did Singapore use desalinated water? How is rainfall used to provide water for Singaporeans?
